Biography

Adebabay Kebede Belew, a PhD in Biology (Applied Genetics) from Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia, has over 20 years of experience in livestock breeding and genetics research. He is a senior researcher and Food System Resilience Program (FSRP) Manager at the Amhara Agricultural Research Institute, focusing on transforming agricultural technology generation and the research system. He has worked as the research manager of the Andassa Livestock Research Centre (ALRC) and coordinated the East African Dairy Productivity Project. Belew has also worked on the assessment of beekeeping systems and characterization of dairy production systems in the Amhara region. He has also worked on the whole genome characterization of village chickens in Ethiopia and served on the technical and advisory committee for the Livestock Fishery and Sector Development Project.
