Biography
Dr. Meron Regu Gebereamanuel is an Assistant Professor in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at Arsi University, Ethiopia, where she also serves as Vice President for Administrative Development and Student Affairs. She holds a Ph.D. in Food and Nutrition from Ewha Womans University (South Korea), an M.Sc. in Food Science and Technology from Haramaya University, and a B.Sc. in Animal Production and Range Land Management from Hawassa University.
Dr. Meron’s research focuses on functional foods, integrating epidemiological data analysis with advanced laboratory techniques, including cell culture and molecular analysis. Her work has been published in high-impact journals, reflecting her commitment to advancing food science and nutrition.
With extensive leadership experience, she has served on multiple boards, including:
• Chair, Asella General Hospital Board
• Board Member, Ethiopian Society of Post-Harvest Management (ESPHM)
• Former Board Member, Ethiopian Society of Animal Production
• Advisory Role, Real Green Vision Ethiopia
Her consultancy expertise spans feasibility studies (e.g., animal production for PHRO-Integrated Farms) and market research (e.g., dairy consumption patterns for SNV Netherlands Development Organization). She also contributes as a peer reviewer for the Arsi Journal of Science Innovation and the Journal of Food Science and Technology.
Currently, Dr. Meron leads collaborative international projects, including:
